Regular -ir verbs
The second big regular family. Finir, choisir and réussir are already familiar; this is the pattern behind them.

The -iss- in the plural is the signature of the family. If a verb does not have it, it is not in this group.
Verbs that follow it exactly: finir, choisir, réussir, remplir, réfléchir, grandir, avertir, établir, agir.
Past participle in -i, with avoir: J'ai fini*. · Il a choisi*.
Watch out — some very common -ir verbs are not in this family, and they are the ones you already use:

Ouvrir is the strangest of them: it ends in -ir and behaves like parler. Its participle is ouvert, not ouvri.
